The holiday season is upon us, and it can feel like a whirlwind—parties, gift shopping, baking, school events, travel...
While holidays bring joy, they can also pile on the stress! How do you navigate this busy time without abandoning your health goals and compromising your sanity?
Here’s the truth...no matter what’s going on, you can feel your BEST.
Here are five tips to dial down the stress and overwhelm and create joy, calm and balance.
1. Own Your Power: The season can feel overwhelming with social outings, gift shopping, family travel, and year-end tasks, on top of your usual “to-dos.” But here’s the thing: you have a choice in how you react and what you prioritize. YOU are in the driver’s seat of your emotions and actions, even when life seems chaotic.
2. Ditch the People-Pleasing {and practice saying “no”}: The pull to be everywhere and do everything is real, but it’s okay to choose yourself sometimes. Learn the power of a polite “no” and protect your well-being, whether that means declining a party invite in favor of rest or passing on a second serving of pie if it doesn’t align with your current health goals.
3. Maintain Your Health Habits: Holidays can disrupt routines, but it’s about adapting, not abandoning them. Didn’t set aside enough time for your 45-minute walk? A brisk 15-minute walk still counts and can be a big mood boost! Ditch the “all or nothing” in favor of “all or something”.
4. Prioritize Your Needs: As moms, we’re pros at meeting everyone else’s needs, but what do YOU need to help you feel your BEST? Exercise, a little extra sleep, sitting down for a meal instead of eating on the fly, a coffee chat with a friend? Make time for it- focus on quality over quantity. {If you never have enough time, grab my free resource to save hours in your week}
5. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify: From meals to gift-giving, consider where you can make things easier. Maybe it’s hosting a potluck-style dinner instead of cooking it all yourself, doing a “Secret Santa” exchange instead of buying gifts for everyone, or gifting experiences instead of material items. Remember, it’s the thought and connection that counts.
Holidays, with all their joy and frenzy, are ultimately about connection and memories. In between the feasts and festivities, find moments to take care of YOU—both body and soul. As you move through the season, remember
to pause, prioritize, and enjoy the ride.
Cheers friends!
